تاریخِ اِنسانی میں یہ اِمتیاز صرف حضور نبی اکرم ﷺ کو حاصل ہے کہ آپ ﷺ کی اِنفرادی، معاشرتی اور قومی زندگی کا ایک ایک لمحہ محفوظ اور اہل ایمان کے لیے مینارۂ نور کی صورت میں موجود ہے۔ آپ ﷺ کی سیرت طیبہ پر تاریخ میں سب سے زیادہ لکھا گیا اور لکھا جا رہا ہے۔ آپ کے سیرت نگاروں کی فہرست میں مسلم اور غیر مسلم تمام مصنفین شامل ہیں۔ ہر دور اور ہر خطہ کے اہل علم نے اپنی بساط کے مطابق آپ کی حیاتِ طیبہ پر لکھنے کی سعادت حاصل کی۔ شیخ الاسلام ڈاکٹر محمد طاہرالقادری نے اردو زبان کی ضخیم ترین سیرت الرسول ﷺ کا آغاز مقدمہ سے کیا جو نہ صرف اردو بلکہ سیرت پر لکھی گئی عرب و عجم اور مسلم و غیر مسلم دنیا کی تمام کتب میں اپنی نوعیت کی واحد کتاب ہے۔ اس سے قبل اسلامی دنیا میںتفسیر، حدیث اور تاریخ کی کتب کے مقدمے لکھے گئے۔ تاہم سیرت نگاری کی تاریخ میں کسی بھی مصنف نے اصولِ سیرت پر مشتمل مقدمہ تصنیف نہیں کیا۔ یہ امتیاز شیخ الاسلام ڈاکٹر محمد طاہرالقادری کو حاصل ہے کہ آپ نے علمی دنیا میں اس باب کا اضافہ کیا۔ مقدمہ سیرت الرسول ﷺ لکھ کر شیخ الاسلام نے سیرت کے موضوع کا مخاطب صرف اہل اسلام نہیں بلکہ اہل عالم کو قرار دیا ہے۔ کیونکہ سیرت کے روایتی بیان سے صرف اہل ایمان ہی رہنمائی لے سکتے ہیں، جب کہ مقدّمہ سیرت الرسول ﷺ کا مخاطب تمام انسانیت ہے اور اس کا اسلوب یہ ہے کہ: 1۔ اہل ایمان کو اُسوۂ حسنہ کے حبی پہلو کے ذریعے حلاوتِ ایمانی سے آشنا کرکے آمادۂ عمل کیا جائے۔ 2۔ عالم انسانیت پر استدلال سے سیرت الرسول ﷺ کی اہمیت واضح کی جائے کہ سیرت الرسول ﷺ سے آگاہی بنی نوع انسان کی تہذیبی، تاریخی اور آفاقی ضرورت ہے۔ مقدمہ میں اس امر کو واضح کیا گیا ہے کہ سیرت کے بیان کا مقصود ایک ایسے معاشرے اور دنیا کی تشکیل ہے جہاں انسان امن و سلامتی سے رہ سکے۔ کیوں کہ سیرت الرسول ﷺ اپنی ظاہری و باطنی وسعتوں کے لحاظ سے محض شخصی سیرت نہیں بلکہ ایک عالم گیر اور بین الاقوامی سیرت ہے جو کسی شخصِ واحد کا دستور زندگی نہیں بلکہ جہانوں کے لیے ایک مکمل دستور حیات ہے۔ جوں جوں زمانہ ترقی کرتا جائے گا، انسانی زندگی کی استواری و ہمواری کے لیے سیرت کی ضرورت و اَہمیت شدید سے شدید تر ہوتی جائے گی۔ اس تصنیف میں سیرت کو مجرد علمی سطح پر رکھنے کی بجائے زندگی کے مسائل اور دور جدید کے تناظر میں بیان کیا گیا ہے۔ اس طرح سیرت کے مخاطب صرف اہل ایمان نہیں بلکہ عالم انسانیت قرار پاتی ہے اور دلائل و براہین سے یہ امر پایہ ثبوت کو پہنچ جاتا ہے کہ دور جدید میں علمی و فکری، سماجی و معاشرتی، سیاسی و اقتصادی اور ملکی و عالمی سطح پر ایسی مثبت اور صالح ترقی، جس میں انسانیت کی فلاح و بقا ہو، اسی صورت میں ممکن ہے جب اس کی بنیاد ان اصولوں پر استوار کی گئی ہو جو سیرت نبوی ﷺ سے ماخوذ ہیں۔ شیخ الاسلام کی یہ تصنیف ایمان و عمل میں رسوخ کا باعث بننے کے ساتھ اہل علم کے لئے تحقیق کے نئے دَر بھی وا کرے گی۔
